Kathy Hoffman Visits Moon Mountain Elementary

On Thursday April 4 th , Arizona’s Superintendent of Public Instruction, Kathy Hoffman, visited Moon Mountain Elementary to learn about the amazing opportunities available for WESD students.    Superintendent Kathy Hoffman was invited, by Barb Weber AEA Retired.  Kathy was taken on a tour where students, Principal Sue Brown, and teachers highlighted key school programs. Highlights included; a Team Meeting with the First Grade teachers and Speech Pathologists, a visit to the library to see STEM in action with “BeeBots”, and a visit with 6 th graders as they shared portfolios and goals of their learning.   Superintendent Paul Stanton also visited as we shared our everyday life here at Moon Mountain.    Thanks Kathy Hoffman for stopping by and a big thank you to Barb Weber (AEA member) for the invitation.    What a special day to highlight the best of Washington Elementary School District and the students and staff at Moon Mountain.  ...

Day with Representative Bolding

WDEA Member Sarah Bennett met with Legislative District 27 Representative Reginald Bolding over Spring Break!  Bennett wrote a wonderful account of her meeting with Bolding and her Spring Break Capital Visit.   My Day with Representative Reginald Bolding I step out of my car thinking of all my memories at the capitol. All of the rallies, all of my visits to legislative committee hearings, camping on the Capitol lawn--they all symbolize democracy in action, and solidarity with my colleagues and others working toward a common goal. But today I am here for a different reason. I have an appointment to shadow Representative Reginald Bolding from Legislative District 27, my home district. All of the legislators in LD27 are solid education advocates, but Bolding, a former special education teacher, is somewhat of a rockstar among us.
